The Danish Art of Hygge

hygge-2

This season it’s all about Hygge.

You know that cosy, comfortable, content feeling you get from sitting by the fire on a cold evening?
That’s Hygge, and we can’t get enough!

This Danish term is taking the world by storm as people embrace the ethos of togetherness, relaxation, indulgence, and comfort. Denmark often takes the top spot on the United Nations World Happiness Report; Perhaps the art of Hygge has something to do with it?

Hygge has a lot to do with lighting, food, company and atmosphere. We believe creating the right environment with beautiful, rustic and homely furniture can help you to create a hygge inspired home.

Here are some of our favourite hygge inspired pieces.  img_5461

We’ve been on a roadtrip!

Some of the Sustainable Furniture Team have been on a European tour visiting trade shows, meeting with current suppliers and potential new manufacturers. Margaret, Jo, Claire and Tamsyn searched for new trends, saw the latest eco-friendly manufacturing methods and spoke to designers from all over the world. After their travels the whole team are feeling inspired and excited to create new ranges. Keep an eye on our website and blog for our new products launching soon!

However, the trip wasn’t all work and no play….

The girls managed to find some time to squeeze in a trip to the Eiffel Tower and enjoy some downtime in supersized garden chairs!

Does your office need a revamp?

Some may not agree with the concept that your surroundings can affect the way you work, we believe a mundane and uninviting work space can do nothing to uplift or motivate your team. We have recently received this fab photo, this space seems to be working a treat to inspire that creative flow.

“I have to say, the table has got a real ‘wow’ factor and gone down a storm! The employees really love it and the Green Room is constantly booked up for meetings despite it not having technology in it!”

Here at sustainable furniture HQ we find the best way to boost the office morale is a quick snuggle with our adorable office pooch Lottie.

Back to School Study Solutions

As the summer draws to an end and the children enthusiastically (or reluctantly) go back to school for another year, it’s the perfect time to consider updating your office or creating a tranquil homework zone. Having a dedicated space for a child to study can help to improve concentration and fuel their imagination.

Our range of Reclaimed Teak desks are perfect for children and adults alike, with plenty of storage and a rustic finish to cope with the rigours of family life. You don’t need to have a specific room in the house for an office, any alcove; landing or other unused space can be transformed into the perfect study space.

One of our customers has sent some great photos of their own study space, with our one of our chunky Reclaimed Teak desks and a comfortable Balero chair. Thanks for the photos Tom and happy studying!
