Available as the wax and a handy spray top up treatment its quick easy and convenient. That’s great news for us at Sustainable Furniture but I hear many of you asking - what about the bees? The production of beeswax is essential to the bee colony. It is used to construct the combs in which the bees raise their brood and into which they store pollen and surplus honey. Beeswax is a by-product of honey production and is usually either discarded or used for manufacturing processes such as in furniture polish, candle making or as part of a waterproof solution for clothing. Briwax is made from a part process where some of the beeswax is extracted for the production of Briwax and the other part is reused back into bee colonies as a base for the next hive/comb structure. This gives bees a good head start in making the new hive and saves them working overtime to make a new structure to hold their precious honey. The other component of Briwax is Carnauba wax which is often referred to as Brazil wax, and is found in on the leaves of the Carnauba Tree of Brazil. Known for its quality as a hard wax and high melting point it is perfect for furniture use and is classed as a food grade polish meaning it is suitable to use on furniture where food will be consumed. Although Briwax is suitable for dining surfaces when it has dried it does have solvents in when wet so please make sure the product is properly dried and buffed in before serving up your Sunday Roast on your beautifully protected Reclaimed Dining Table!
