Beautiful sustainable wooden fruit bowls offered in one size manufactured and crafted from charming burnt teak roots.  These contemporary style fruit bowls are manufactured from whole pieces of teak root timber and are finer in structure than the natural style bowls.  The teak roots have been left in the ground from when the tree would have been felled - the wood having matured and preserved for many years.  Teak root furniture serves a fantastic environmental service as by utilising the roots from already cut trees the land is cleared, cultivated and prepared for replanting, making otherwise redundant, root riddled land completely prepared for fresh plantation.  The economic service to a community is also invaluable as the roots are extracted by hand providing employment for labourers (each piece of root requires 6 men to complete the excavation)!   Completely unique bowls are then crafted and finished with a beautiful wax sheen.  All bowls are completely different, make a truely natural feature and each has its own character.  Sizes are approximate and cracks and shakes add to the attractive nature of these great artefact pieces.  Our Bakar bowls are finished with a black stain, adding to the attractiveness.   An ideal present.
