Our Douglas Fir garden seats are manufactured from British grown timber and processed in the most environmentally friendly methods available.   All the logs are sourced from Devon and Cornwall FSC certified woodlands and are processed at a Westcountry sawmill.   The finished garden seat is treated with wood preservative, under controlled conditions by vacuum pressure technology using the latest environmentally safe "Tanalith E" from Arch Timber Protection.  Tanalith E treated timber can be used with confidence for all applications in Hazard class 1-4, internal and external, above and below ground use.   This garden seat is strong, solid and durable - does not need to be treated at all and can be left outside all Winter and will last a long long time.

From April 2009 there has been a step-change in timber procurement policy. Central government departments, their executive agencies and non-departmental public bodies are now required to procure timber and wood-derived products originating from:

-       either legal and sustainable;

-       or FLEGT-licensed or equivalent sources.

The policy is implemented through contract clauses and evidence is required and applies to all wood derived products, including paper, furniture, wood use in construction and wood fuel. Other bodies receiving public funding such as Local Authorities and Universities are encouraged to adopt the policy.
