All of this range of furniture is manufactured from entirely solid oak and if you are looking for a truly magnificent piece of furniture (contemporary or rustic) then oak certainly is the ultimate for indoor furniture.
Oak wood has a density of about 0.75 g/cm3, great strength and hardness and is very resistant to insect and fungal attack because of its high tannin content. It also has very attractive grain markings, particularly when quarter-sawn. Wide, quarter-sawn boards of oak have been prized since the middle ages for use in interior panelling in prestigious buildings such as debating chamber of the British House of Commons, and in the construction of fine English furniture. Today oak wood is still commonly used for furniture making and flooring, timber frame buildings. Barrels in which red wines, sherry, brandy and spirits such as Scotch whiskey are aged are made from European oak. The use of oak in wine can add many different dimensions to wine based on the type and style of the oak. Oak wood chips are used for smoking fish, meat, cheese and other foods. The bark of cork Oak is used to create wine stoppers for most of the World’s wine supply.
The oak is a common symbol of strength and endurance and has been chosen as the national tree of England. In Celtic mythology it is the tree of doors, believed to be a gateway between worlds, or a place where portals could be erected.
In order to guarantee high quality products, we take great care in choosing the wood used in this furniture making process. It takes about 250 years for an oak tree to give a high quality, fine grain, which gives the furniture its beautiful texture. We choose our suppliers with great care - all of them are taking part in an eco-certification process.
For example 1m3 of cut timber = 1 tree planted.
All of our oak wood comes from sustainable European forests. Our main supply originates from the most beautiful forests in the centre of France (Troncais and Fontainebleau). These former royal forests have supplied high quality oak for centuries.
Our collections, rustic and contemporary, are available in a wide range of furniture items, finishes and stains and we can entirely personalise a piece of furniture to your own specific requirements.
This furniture is manufactured by using traditional cabinet making techniques and then finished 100% by hand. The wood is cut and shaped by CNC machines for precision machining. The frames are crafted using traditional methods and mortise and tenon joints. Dovetail joints are used to give drawers, strength and robustness. Each piece of furniture is then assembled by hand to ensure the perfect alignment of each panel. This furniture is stained by hand. Knowledge of this field is unique and the combinations of colour patina and staining processes result from years of experience. THE SOPHISTICATED ROYAL WOOD!
